Chinese Printing Living Fossil On Display At China Art Museum

"Living fossils of Chinese printing: watermark works of shizhuzhai woodblock" opens at the national art museum of China on sept 5.


The exhibition by the Chinese intangible cultural heritage protection association, China association of ancient books protection, hangzhou city, zhejiang province, culture, radio and television news and publication sponsored by national intangible heritage representative people, hangzhou ten bamboo zhai gallery curator Wei Lizhong creation of 52 etchings, 100 pieces of engraving, 80 portrait seals, and more than 60 pieces of literature, the artistry of the traditional coruscate gives new luster.


In the Ming dynasty, hu zhengyan created multicolor overprinting techniques like multicolor overprinting and multicolor overprinting on the basis of block printing and movable type. Wei lizhong, the inheritor of woodblock watermarking, began to restore the watermarking technique of shizhuzhai woodblock in 2001. In 2014, the watermarking technique of shizhuzhai wood plate was selected into the national intangible cultural heritage list.
